During a state visit by Indian president Pranab Mukherjee to Finland, an agreement was signed on 15 October between the Finnish radiation and safety authority, Stuk, and India's Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).

The agreement calls for the promotion of the exchange of information between the two organizations. Through the agreement, Stuk and the AERB may consult each other on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and radiation safety issues.

Topics covered by the agreement include safety issues related to the construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, as well as security assessments, emergency preparedness and radioactive waste disposal. The cooperation agreement also promotes exchange visits by Stuk and AERB experts.

According to Stuk, it has similar agreements in place with over ten other national nuclear regulators.
