26 November 2009

Henri Proglio has been appointed as the new chairman and CEO of French generator Electricité de France (EdF). Sixty-year old Proglio has been chairman and CEO of water and environmental services giant Veolia Environnement since 2003, and a non-executive director of EdF since September 2004. He retains his position as non-executive chairman of the Veolia Environnement board of directors. The new EdF chairman has already received widespread media coverage, cited in press reports suggesting EdF may be preparing to buy into Veolia, as well as anticipating the award of a contract to build nuclear power plants in the United Arab Emirates to a French consortium within weeks.
