[Government of New Brunswick, 6 June] CVRD-Inco, a Brazilian mining company, has signed a C$4 million ($3.8 million), five-year deal to explore for uranium in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The deal with the provincial government gives CVRD-Inco exclusive rights to explore for uranium on 136,000 hectares of land in the Turtle Creek area, between Sussex and Moncton. CVRD-Inco is required to relinquish 50% of the land after one year. Natural resources minister Donald Arseneault said: "This agreement is an excellent opportunity to attract investment by a major mining company into New Brunswick." He added, "New Brunswick also benefits by receiving all of Inco's past exploration surveys as well as the work done under the agreement."
