EDF Energy has released a series of photos showing how work has progressed on the construction of Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station in the UK for three decades.

There are now around 8000 people working on the site in the south west of England, which will feature two European Pressurised Water Reactors capable of providing 3260 MW of electricity for 60 years.

EDF said last month that the start of electricity generation for unit 1 of the Hinkley Point C plant is expected in June 2027, with project completion costs estimated in the range of GBP25 to 26 billion (in 2015 prices).
