New nuclear baby boom
A nuclear renaissance could lead to a population explosion, according to new research published today concluding that nuclear workers' lives are being enriched to a greater degree by fertile relationships. The lead scientist on the research project, Flora Lopi of the International Institute of Human Performance Studies, said nuclear workers experienced a 21% greater chance of conceiving when compared to their colleagues in other energy industries. The effect could not be linked to ionizing radiation, said Lopi, "It's just something about nuclear." She added that the effect was seen throughout the industry, although was most marked among workers connected with fast breeder reactors.
