GoviEx Uranium Inc and the Republic of Niger have agreed to temporarily suspend ongoing arbitration proceedings while discussions over the disputed uranium project continue.

The French company has opened international arbitration proceedings against the State of Niger following the withdrawal of its mining licence for the Imouraren project in June.

Energy Resources of Australia Limited says it is disappointed with the Northern Territory Government's decision not to renew the mineral lease for the Jabiluka high-grade uranium deposit. Any decision about the future use of the site now rests with the Federal Government, in consultation with key stakeholders.

Australia-based mineral company Aura Energy Limited announced it has received from the Mauritanian government the last outstanding material permit to allow the construction and operation of the Tiris uranium project in the West African country.

The Vancouver-based company said it has been informed by the Minister of Mines, by letter, "that it no longer has rights over the perimeter of the Madaouela mining permit, which is now in the public domain".

France's Orano has announced that Nigerien authorities have withdrawn the operating permit for the Imouraren uranium mine, which was issued to its subsidiary Imouraren SA in 2009.

Namibia's Ministry of Mines and Energy has issued a mining licence to Deep Yellow Ltd for the Tumas uranium project. The company says it is aiming to make a final investment decision on the project in the third quarter of 2024.

Namibia's Ministry of Mines and Energy has granted Bannerman Energy a mining licence for its Etango uranium project. Initial contracts have been awarded for the Etango early works programme.

The renewed licences authorise the company to continue to operate the Key Lake, McArthur River and Rabbit Lake sites. Rabbit Lake's renewed licence is valid until October 2038, and those for Key Lake and McArthur River until October 2043.
