Fuel loading at second Fangjiashan unit
The process of loading fuel assemblies into the reactor core of unit 2 at the Fangjiashan plant in China's Zhejiang province has begun. The unit is expected to enter commercial operation next year.

Paks unit 2 gets 20-year life extension
Hungary's National Atomic Energy Office has issued a licence to extend the operating life of unit 2 of the Paks nuclear plant by 20 years until 31 December, 2034. Unit 1 was granted a similar licence in 2012.

UK units cleared for restart after boiler checks
The UK nuclear regulator has given EDF Energy permission to restart two units at its Hartlepool nuclear power plant and one at its Heysham I plant. The units have been offline since August for investigations into potential cracks in boiler spines.

Forsmark 3 power uprate cancelled
Plans for a power uprate of over 14% at unit 3 of the Forsmark nuclear power plant in Sweden have been dropped as it is no longer economically feasible, Vattenfall has announced. An uprate at unit 1 will go ahead as planned.

Commercial operation for Fuqing 1
Unit 1 of the Fuqing nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province has entered commercial operation having successfully completed commissioning tests. It becomes China's 22nd operating nuclear power reactor.

Robot inspects water tank
A robotic examination of an in-service condensate storage tank at a US nuclear power reactor has been successfully completed. Previously plant operators would have to use divers or empty the tanks in order to conduct manual inspections.
