Atucha II returns to service after completing repairs
Argentina's Atucha II nuclear unit is delivering power again after the successful completion of repairs prompted by the October 2022 inspection discovery that one of the four internal supports of the reactor had detached and moved from its design location.

Groundwater extraction begins at Zaporizhzhia
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has started pumping water from a new groundwater well and plans to build more at the site as part of efforts to ensure sufficient cooling for its six reactors after the destruction of Ukraine's Kakhovka dam in early June.

Eskom looks to November restart for Koeberg 1
South African utility Eskom has announced that unit 1 at its Koeberg nuclear power plant, which has been undergoing a long-term outage for maintenance and steam generator replacement, is now expected to return to service on 3 November. The start of similar work at Koeberg 2 has been postponed to 7 November to ensure that both units are not off line at the same time.

Nuclear is 'bedrock' of Duke's energy roadmap
UPDATED:
Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress have recommended extending the lives of their existing nuclear power plants as well as building two new small modular reactors by 2035 in an energy portfolio that offers the most prudent way forward for North and South Carolina. A retiring coal plant in North Carolina is earmarked for the first SMR.

Tricastin 1 cleared for ten more years
Unit 1 of the Tricastin nuclear power plant in southern France can operate for a further ten years, the country's nuclear safety regulator, the Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire, has decided. It becomes the first French power reactor licensed to operate beyond 40 years.

Mochovce 3 reaches 90% power output
The power output of unit 3 at the Mochovce nuclear power plant in Slovakia has been increased from 75% to 90% as energy start-up tests continue, Slovenské elektrárne announced. The VVER-440 is expected to enter commercial operation in the coming months.

Zaporizhzhia 4 taken out of hot shutdown due to water leak
Unit 4 at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is being switched from hot shutdown to cold shutdown following the detection of a water leak at one of its four steam generators. Meanwhile, unit 6 is being moved to hot shutdown to continue steam production on the site.

Hydro-Québec mulls Gentilly 2 recommissioning
Hydro-Québec has confirmed it is assessing the current state of the plant which closed in 2012, as it looks at options to increase its production of clean electricity.
