With the completion of the final shipment of used fuel from the research reactor at Rez to Russia, all highly enriched uranium (HEU) has now been removed from the Czech Republic.

The construction of two more units at the existing Temelin nuclear power plant site will not have a significant environmental impact, the Czech Republic's ministry of environment has concluded.

An application to build two new reactors at the Temelin plant has been submitted to the Czech State Office for Nuclear Safety by utility CEZ.
