Japan's nuclear debate has intensified considerably with the restart of reactors. Weekly protests at the prime minister's residence have been supplemented by the biggest rally so far and a huge petition.
Citing the plant's low-carbon power production and economic contribution, the Spanish government has wiped away a previous ruling to allow the Garoña nuclear power plant to operate past July 2013 - opening the possibility to continue until 2019.
An OECD report has highlighted the contribution nuclear already makes to the energy mix as well as how it can fit into future low-carbon networks. The report is aimed at informing the policymaking of the body's member governments.
