Samsung completes design of CMSR Power Barge
South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has completed the conceptual design for the CMSR Power Barge - a floating nuclear power plant based on compact molten salt reactors - and obtained the basic certification of the design from the American Bureau of Shipping.

Boost to Russian marine reactor manufacturing

Bureau Veritas to help ThorCon develop Indonesian plant
France-based testing, inspection and certification services provider Bureau Veritas has entered into an agreement with ThorCon for the technology qualification and subsequent development of a 500 MWe floating ThorCon molten salt reactor (TMSR-500) to be deployed in Indonesia.

NuScale and Prodigy conceptual design for marine-based SMR plant

Construction starts on Russia's next floating nuclear power plant
Construction has started on the first of four floating nuclear power plants for the Cape Nagloynyn project that will power a huge mining development in the Russian Arctic. At a Chinese shipyard, the keel-laying ceremony was held for a barge that will later be fitted with two RITM-200S reactors.

DOE awards research funds for offshore nuclear generation
Core Power, MIT Energy Initiative and the Idaho National Laboratory have been granted research funds by the US Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy University Program for a three-year study into the development of offshore floating nuclear power generation in the USA.

Study examines option for floating nuclear power in Vietnam
A joint study by Vietnamese power engineering consultancy PECC2, Denmark’s Seaborg, designer of power barges using compact molten salt reactors, and manufacturer Siemens Energy looked at the case for floating nuclear power plants to provide electricity as well as hydrogen and ammonia production.

Seaborg and BEES sign MoU relating to floating Compact Molten Salt Reactor
Best Engineering in Energy Solutions and Seaborg have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate with South Korean regulators to identify and meet requirements for the construction and export of the Danish company’s floating nuclear power plants.
