Holtec International has won a contract for the turnkey supply of a dry cask storage facility at the Krško nuclear power plant in Slovenia. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The operating life of the Krško nuclear power plant in Slovenia will be extended by 20 years following an agreement between Slovenia and neighbouring Croatia, which jointly own the plant. It was also agreed that a dry storage facility for used fuel will be built at the site.

The Slovenian government has approved an investment program for a national repository for low- and intermediate-level waste. The total investment costs depend on whether neighbouring Croatia participates in the project.

The Czech government has expressed the common view of ten European countries in favour of nuclear power in a letter to the European Commission.

Westinghouse has completed the installation of a passive containment filtered venting system at the Krško nuclear power plant in Slovenia.
