Rooppur rail link contract signed
A Bangladesh-Indian joint venture is to build a new 26.5 kilometre railway link from the Rooppur nuclear power plant to Ishwardi under a contract signed in Dhaka on 10 July. The contract is to be completed within 18 months.

Bangladesh issues construction licence for Rooppur unit 2
The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission has formally received a design and construction licence for Rooppur unit 2. It received an equivalent licence for unit 1 in November last year and construction work started on that unit soon afterwards.

Rooppur 1 achieves first construction milestone
Russia's Rosatom has completed concreting the foundation of unit 1 of the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. ASE Group, a subsidiary of the Russian state nuclear corporation, said today the project to build the Asian country's first nuclear power unit was on schedule.

India to assist in Rooppur implementation
Russia, Bangladesh and India yesterday signed a memorandum on cooperation in the implementation of the Rooppur nuclear power plant project. Construction of Bangladesh's first nuclear power reactor, Rooppur 1, officially began in late November 2017.

Construction under way at Rooppur 1
Construction of Bangladesh's first nuclear power reactor, Rooppur 1,has officially begun with the pouring of the first concrete for the VVER-1200 reactor's basemat. Work on the Russian-designed and supplied plant was ceremonially started by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Rooppur 1 receives construction licence
The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission has formally received a design and construction licence for Rooppur unit 1. Construction of the country's first nuclear power plant is now expected officially to begin on 30 November.
