Areva signs up for Texas storage facility
UPDATED
Areva Inc is to take a lead role in designing, constructing and operating a proposed interim storage facility for used nuclear fuel in Texas, after signing an agreement to be Waste Control Specialist's exclusive primary subcontractor. NAC International is to work alongside Areva to support the project.

Argentina-China talks on new nuclear plants
A $13 billion deal agreed by China to build two reactors for Argentina hinges entirely on the Chinese side putting up the financing, with a final arrangement on the cash deal to be inked in 2017, according to sources in the Chinese nuclear industry.

Settlement agreed for WIPP incidents
Some $73 million will be spent on "mutually beneficial and critical projects" in New Mexico by the US Department of Energy and its contractors under an agreement reached with the New Mexico Environment Department. The investments will be in lieu of proposed fines for two incidents at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in February 2014.

Bruce Power, KHNP extend collaboration on Candus
Two Candu operators - Canada's Bruce Power and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) - have signed a memorandum of understanding to extend their cooperation, particularly in areas related to nuclear safety, operational performance and carrying out large projects such as refurbishment.

China helps South Africa develop its nuclear workforce
South Africa has signed two further nuclear energy cooperation agreements with China as part of preparations towards the possible construction of new nuclear power units. The move came as the first group of South African workers began a nuclear power plant training course at a Chinese university, as agreed under an earlier accord.

Argentina, Russia sign nuclear reactor and fuel deals
