Completion of unit 4 of the Shin Kori nuclear power plant has been delayed by ten months, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power has said. The APR1400 reactor is now expected to start up in September 2018.

Scana Corporation subsidiary South Carolina Electric & Gas yesterday announced its decision to cease construction of two AP1000 reactors at VC Summer. The announcement followed co-owner Santee Cooper's decision to suspend construction because of projected completion delays and cost overruns. Scana is to file for regulatory permission to abandon the project.

Unit 4 of the Fuqing nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province has been connected to the grid, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced today. The 1087 MWe CPR-1000 unit becomes the country's 37th operational power reactor.

Cold hydrostatic testing has been completed at unit 2 of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates. Cold hydrostatic testing verifies that the welds, joints, pipes and components of the reactor coolant system and associated high-pressure systems meet the requirements set by the UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
