Romania and China seal Cernavoda agreement
Nuclearelectrica has signed a memorandum of understanding with China General Nuclear for the development, construction, operation and decommissioning of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. The Romanian national nuclear company said a joint venture project company is to be established, with CGN owning at least 51% of the share capital.

Nuclearelectrica owners approve China agreement
The shareholders of Romanian national nuclear company Nuclearelectrica have approved an agreement with China General Nuclear to develop two units at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. Nuclearelectrica said on 22 October that the November 2013 document had been approved at an extraordinary general meeting.

Amec and ANDR join forces for Romanian waste
Consultancy and engineering company Amec is to work with Romanian nuclear and radioactive waste agency ANDR (Agenţia Nucleară şi pentru Deşeuri Radioactive) to develop a national strategy for nuclear decommissioning and long-term waste storage under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Canadian engineering company SNC-Lavalin has won a contract to install reactor containment filtration systems at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant in Romania. SNC-Lavalin has in turn contracted Areva to supply the equipment.
