Preparing for licensing beyond 60 years

Vessel checks for more Swedish reactors
Sweden's nuclear regulator has instructed the operators of two more of the country's reactors to review the conditions of the units' pressure vessels to check for defects that may have been introduced in the manufacturing process.

Hamaoka 4 seeks restart approval
Chubu Electric Power Company has requested a safety review by Japan's nuclear regulator of unit 4 at its Hamaoka plant in Shizuoka prefecture. It becomes the seventeenth Japanese reactor to seek permission to restart.

GEH agrees settlement over allegations
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has agreed to pay $2.7 million to resolve a lawsuit over alleged false claims related to a component for its ESBWR reactor design. The company expressly denies the allegations.

Tohoku seeks Onagawa 2 restart
Tohoku Electric Power Company has requested a safety review by Japan's nuclear regulator of unit 2 at its Onagawa plant, prior to its restart. The Onagawa plant sustained far less damage from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami than expected.

Regulator calls for Flamanville crane checks
