Russia and Bangladesh expand nuclear cooperation

A number of documents have been signed between Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the government of Bangladesh that will enhance existing bilateral cooperation in the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. The pouring of concrete for the foundation of the turbine building at unit 2 of the Rooppur nuclear power plant under construction in Bangladesh was completed yesterday. The foundation for the turbine hall of Rooppur 1 was completed earlier this year.

A ceremony was held today to mark the exchange of documents between TVEL JSC - the nuclear fuel manufacturer of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom - and the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission finalising a contract signed in late 2018 for the supply of fuel for the Rooppur nuclear power plant under construction in Bangladesh.
