Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachov and Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker today signed notices to proceed with contracts for the construction of four VVER-1200 units at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant.

Egypt's president, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Egypt to witness the signing of contracts enabling the start of construction of a nuclear power plant in Dabaa, northwest of Cairo. The Kremlin's press service said yesterday that the two heads of state had met during the BRICS summit in China's Xiamen province, where they said their countries had completed two years of talks on the project.

Egypt and Russia have completed their talks on contracts to build a nuclear power plant at Daba'a, according to a report from Cairo by Russian news agency TASS that cites Egypt's electricity and energy minister, Mohamed Shaker. The four draft agreements - which cover technical support, operation, maintenance, and fuel supply - require approval by the State Council, or the Supreme Administrative Court, it added.
