Areva said that it is launching the campaign in Germany, China, North America, France, India and the Middle East in order to "attract prime candidates inside and outside of France to meet both the company's growth needs and the energy challenges of the future."

It said that the campaign "heralds a strong pro-employment message in an economic climate in which many organizations are scaling back hiring." The campaign will appear in print media outlets in each country and will have extensive web components.

Areva said that, together, these six regions cover 75% of its worldwide recruitment needs in 2009. The company plans to recruit 4000 workers in France and 8000 outside the country this year. In North America, Areva plans to hire some 700 new employees in 2009, which would represent a 10% increase to its current work force on the continent.

Philippe Vivien, Areva's Senior Executive Vice-President Human Resources, commented: "Our recruitment drive will target experienced engineers, recent graduates, technicians, and labourers; in short, we're looking for people from varied backgrounds to join us and begin working on global energy challenges."

He added, "Engineers who've recently graduated from the best schools are very similar regardless of their nationality. They travel, visit 'borderless' Web sites and usually speak fluent English in addition to their mother tongue. What's more, they're tuned into our efforts to establish a relationship with them no matter where they may be in the world."

Vivien remarked, "We are a global company offering many employment opportunities for skilled engineers and technicians. That's our message and we're saying it loud and clear!"

Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier, Senior Vice President Communications and spokesman of Areva group, said that the campaign "will remind everyone that the company is expanding despite the recession and that it operates in a flourishing industry, one that's facing a challenge: putting energy in the service of humanity by enabling economic development, social progress, and the preservation of the plant." He added, "The campaign reminds our current employees that they are at the right place at the right time."
