Energoatom workers in winter sports contest
Energoatom has held its 5th Winter Spartakiad, with sportsmen from nine of Russia's nuclear power plants and the company's headquarters competing in cross-country skiing, Alpine skiing, polyathlon and snow football.

Some 200 sportsmen participated in the three-day tournament, which began on 19 March with an opening ceremony at the sports stadium in Polyarnye Zori, the satellite city to the Kola nuclear power plant in the Murmansk region.
As well as a team from the Kola plant, workers from the Balakovo, Beloyarsk, Volgodonsk, Kalinin, Kursk, Leningrad, Novovoronezh and Smolensk nuclear power plants also participated. Employees from Energoatom's headquarters also took part.
The host plant proved to be the most successful overall, with Kola winning in the Alpine skiing, giant slalom skiing, parallel slalom skiing and the polyathlon. The team from Beloyarsk came second, followed by the Leningrad team.

The Kola team also won the cross-country skiing event, followed by the Kalinin and Leningrad teams. The Kola team also won the snow football final, beating the Novovoronezh team by 5 goals to 2.
