Mihama 3 restarted

Kansai Electric Power Co has restartedthe Mihama 3 pressurised water reactor more than two years after a steamline break that cost five workers their lives. The 826 MWe reactor unit restarted on theafternoon of 10 January and was expected to reach full power the next day. Company spokesman Ryuichi Suehiro said theoperation was uneventful. In response to the August 2004 accident, Kansaiimmediately tested similar pipes at theeight reactors at its Ohi and Takahama plants, in addition to the othertwo Mihama units.  A current statement from Shosuke Mori,Kansai's President reads: "With profound remorse over the accident, wewill do out utmost to investigate the cause and take everycountermeasure to avoid any repitition of similar accidents."
