No Yucca water transport falsification

[OCRWM; Nuclear Energy Institute, 2 April] A root cause analysis into the apparent falsification of data on water transport inside Yucca Mountain has concluded that no falsification took place. Emails written by a "small group" of workers at the US Geological Survey expressed their "negative attitude about the quality assurance program and suggested noncompliance with quality assurance requirements" but there was no evidence of actual falsification. The attitudes came to light in March 2005 when USGS work dating back to 1982 was submitted as part of a license application for the Yucca Mountain radioactive waste repository. The work in question was found to have been subject to appropriate quality control, but that the Office for Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM) had "failed to fully implement an effective nuclear culture" and "failed to hold individuals accountable for infiltration product quality."
