Polluter must pay, says poll

[IHT, 23 February] A poll has shown overwhelming support for the 'polluter pays' principle in Western Europe and the USA. Conducted by Harris Interactive for the International Herald Tribune and France 24 television, the survey shows that between 81% and 92% of respondents in each country supported the idea that "the more a company pollutes, the more it is taxed" for industry. 6576 people from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the USA were polled.
