Aveva's plant design management system (PDMS) was the subject of a memorandum of cooperation signed in Beijing this week between the company and China Guangdong's design arm, China Guangdong Nuclear Design Company. The software has already been used on 16 nuclear build projects dating back to 2001, including the Areva EPR project at Taishan. The group operates six reactors and has full or joint control of 15 currently under construction.
PDMS applications enable multiple teams of engineers to develop and work from the same design model simultaneously, accurately viewing plant design in 3D and avoiding conflicts. Aveva said its product creates a 'successful multi-site project management environment' and can improve design quality and efficiency.
