Two burnt at Kori

On 19 March four workers at a liquid waste treatment faciliy at South Korea's Kori site opened a recirculation pump which was part of a liquid waste evaporator system , causing scalding water to pour onto their feet. Two suffered first and second degree burns and were treated in hospital, the other two were not badly injured. Tests showed that the workers received a dose radiation equal to one two-thousandth of the regulatory limit. The evaporator reduces the volume of liquid waste from Korea Hydro and Nulcear Power's Kori 1 pressurized water reactor before condensed sludges are packaged for disposal and distilled water returned to the sea.
