Uranium One appoints new CEO

Canada-based uranium mining company Uranium One has announced that Chris Sattler has been appointed as the company's CEO, replacing Jean Nortier, who had been CEO since August 2008. Sattler joined Uranium One in 2006 and has served as executive vice president of corporate development and investor relations since 2009. He officially assumes the position of CEO on 1 February. The company said that Nortier, who has returned to South Africa with his family for personal reasons, will remain a member of its board of directors. In a major deal made in June 2010, Russia's AtomRedMetZoloto (ARMZ) acquired 51% of the shares of Uranium One. The board of Uranium One was subsequently reduced from thirteen to nine, with five independent directors, two of whom were nominated by ARMZ. Uranium One has uranium properties in Kazakhstan, the USA and Australia.
