[Nuclear.ru 19 May] Nuclear Workers’ Day will be celebrated on September 28 each year in Kazakhstan, following the signing of a decree by their president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as per Article 4 of the Kazakhstani national law "On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan". Kazakhstan joins Russia in celebrating Nuclear Workers' Day on this date.

Kazatomprom, which is the national operator in exports of uranium and its compounds, rare-earth metals, fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, dual-use technologies and materials, said the new holiday is "the evidence of the important role the nuclear industry plays in successful economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
