Russia's ASE and Almaz-Antey cooperate

Russian companies AtomStroyExport (ASE)and PVO Almaz-Antey signed a memorandum of cooperation on 29 August onthe construction of electricity generation facilities, includingnuclear power plants. Under the agreement, the two companies will"combine the advantages of each company for the joint implementation ofinvestment projects in power engineering". ASE said it seeks to promoteRussian nuclear power projects both domestically and abroad bysupporting and involving highly-developed enterprises in the defenceindustry. Almaz-Antey is Russia's primary producer of air-defenceweapons, but its enterprises are involved in the manufacture of "largedimension equipment" for nuclear power plants. It aims to develop itsenterprises by enhancing its technical competences in the powerengineering sector.
