Russian billionaire invests in Kazakh uranium

[Bloomberg, 28 September] Russian billionaire Vasily Anisimov, through his Effective Energy NV business, has reportedly taken a stake of just under 25% in a joint venture to develop the Budyonovskoe uranium deposit in Kazakhstan. Kazakh state-owned Kazatomprom holds 50% of the joint venture, while Russia's Techsnabexport (Tenex) holds the remainder. The venture, which will need an investment of more than $100 million, plans to produce 3000 tonnes U3O8 (2540 tU) annually by 2015.
