Uranium ore processing starts at Dominion

[Uranium One, 1 March; Reuters, 2 March] sxr Uranium One announced that processing of underground uranium ore had started at its Dominion mine in South Africa. The move follows the successful hot commissioning of the atmospheric leach circuit at the Dominion mill. Chief executive Neal Froneman said, "The commencement of ore processing at Dominion, in line with targets we set for ourselves in 2003, marks one of the most important milestones in the development of Uranium One." The company expects to produce 1724 tonnes U3O8 (1460 tU) annually from the first phase of the mine, and is now studying if it can boost that to 3175 tonnes U3O8 (2690 tU) annually by 2015.
