Westinghouse has agreed to acquire Astare, a French nuclear engineering company. The terms of the agreement, scheduled to close on 11 October, were not disclosed. Nick Liparulo, vice president of engineering for Westinghouse, said, "This acquisition will better enable Westinghouse to provide engineering support and project management services in the very important French market." He added that Astare, which is headquartered near Paris and has offices in Marseille and Lyon, will continue to operate as Astare, and the company's approximately 100 employees will be retained. The announcement comes just two months after Westinghouse said that it would acquire IST Nuclear, a provider of nuclear services and systems in South Africa.
