[Bloomberg, 19 September] Westinghouse is expecting 35 nuclear power plant orders within the next decade. "This is only the middle-case scenario for us," said Dan Lipman, the company's senior Vice President. He said that Westinghouse was expecting an order with an unidentified US utility by November. Commenting on his company's deal to build four of its AP1000 pressurized water reactors in China, two each at Sanmen and Haiyang, Lipman said: "We've negotiated this technology transfer with care. They can't take our design and promote it; there are restrictions." The Chinese factories supplying some components could be called on by Westinghouse in future, and Westinghouse would also have access to their technical innovations. "You don't sell your crown jewels unless you know you can achieve something back," Lipman said.
