Project to study use of SMRs for bio-coal production
Swedish lead-cooled small modular reactor technology developer Blykalla said it is participating in a new project focused on integrating SMRs with thermochemical processes to produce renewable materials, like bio-coal and bio-oil, which can then be used to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency in Sweden's steel and chemical industries.

Funding and commercial agreements grow for Last Energy
US microreactor developer Last Energy announced it has raised USD40 million for its Series B round of funding, bringing total capital raised to USD64 million since the company's founding in 2019. It also said it has now reached commercial agreements for 80 of its microreactors.

Oklo selects Siemens Energy to supply conventional island
California-based liquid metal fast reactor developer Oklo Inc has signed a preferred supplier agreement with steam turbine and generator technology supplier Siemens Energy for the power conversion system of its Aurora 'powerhouse'.

North American investments in fusion energy
Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and Business Development Bank of Canada have announced a lead investment of CAD10 million (USD7.3 million) each in Canadian private fusion developer General Fusion. Meanwhile, the US Department of Energy has awarded USD4.6 million in 17 awards to fund public-private partnerships for fusion research.

Newcleo expands cooperation with Slovakia

Shake tests improve seismic safety of dry storage systems

Japan-UK enhance cooperation on fusion
British inertial fusion energy developer First Light Fusion has hosted a delegation from the Japanese government, headed by State Minister Soichiro Imaeda from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The visit comes as the UK and Japan seek closer collaboration on commercial fusion energy research.
