Australian uranium companies announce merger plans
Australian uranium companies Deep Yellow and Vimy Resources have agreed to a merger by a Scheme of Arrangement, under which Deep Yellow will acquire 100% of Vimy's shares. The merger will bring together the two companies' complementary asset bases including the Mulga Rock uranium project in Western Australia and the Tumas project in Namibia.

New study confirms viability of Etango-8
Newly released results from a pre-feasibility study of the Etango-8 uranium project have confirmed the strong technical and economic viability of conventional open pit mining and heap leach processing of the deposit in Namibia, Bannerman Energy has announced. The company now plans to complete a definitive feasibility study in 2022.

Bannerman study scopes out alternative Etango development
Developing the Etango uranium project in Namibia as an 8 million tonnes per year (Mtpa) throughput operation as opposed to the 20 Mtpa operation envisaged in previous studies will cut upfront capital costs while maintaining project economics, according to a newly completed scoping study by Bannerman Resources.

Rössing operations suspended in Namibian lockdown
CNNC Rössing Uranium has announced the suspension of normal mining operations at the Rössing uranium mine in Namibia from 28 March because of a partial lockdown of the Erongo region in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Elsewhere, uranium miners continue to address issues arising from the global pandemic.

Paladin looks to rapid restart for Langer Heinrich
Paladin Energy Ltd's pre-feasibility study for the restart of the Langer Heinrich uranium mine has delivered improved economics and potential for capacity expansion. The Namibian mine could return to production within 12 months of a restart decision and favourable market conditions, the company said.

Rio Tinto completes Rössing sale to China
Rio Tinto has completed the sale of Rössing, the world's longest-running open pit uranium mine, to China National Uranium Corporation Limited for an initial cash payment of USD6.5 million plus a contingent payment of up to USD100 million.

Rössing sale gets final approval
The Namibian Competition Commission has conditionally approved China National Uranium Corporation’s acquisition of Rössing Uranium Limited. It is the only approval needed for the transaction to be completed. Rössing, the world's longest-running open pit uranium mine, has been in operation since 1976 and has a nameplate capacity of 4500 tonnes U3O8 per year.
