The US nuclear safety body, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), has again been voted the best large federal government agency in the country to work in. In the Best Places to Work rankings, compiled every two years since 2003, the NRC maintained the top position it achieved in 2007. The rankings evaluate employee satisfaction across government in 278 federal agencies and subcomponents. The rankings are compiled by the Partnership for Public Service and American University's Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation, based on a survey conducted by the US Office of Personnel Management that represents the views of some 212,000 federal employees. Meanwhile, German power and gas company EOn has ranked in 10th position in Europe's top 100 employers in the Best Workplace in Europe competition run by the Great Place to Work Institute Europe. A total of 1350 companies from 15 countries took part. Last year, EOn, which generates about one-third of its electricity with nuclear plants, was in 14th position. Recently, EOn was also ranked amongst the top 10 places to work in Germany.
