Power's widow, Joyce, commissioned local artist Lee Bowerman to paint the mural, which took almost two months to complete with the help of assistant Kevin Smith. Local newspaper The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel described the mural as "a three-dimensional multimedia piece that includes the painting of authentic ore carts running along actual rail and landscaping."
The painting, loosely based on scenery at the former Sage mine in Colorado, depicts Power exiting the porthole with a cart of uranium ore. As well as actual uranium ore, several other significant elements of Power's life are depicted in the mural. It features a rabbit, a hawk, a lizard and even a rattlesnake like those Power made a hobby of catching.
