Framatome gets further Trillo fuel supply contract
Spain's Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo has awarded a contract for fuel assembly deliveries and related services from 2026-2035 for the Trillo nuclear power plant's unit 1 to France's Framatome.
Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo (CNAT) operates the unit, a pressurised water reactor with a gross capacity of 1066 MWe, located northeast of Madrid. Framatome, the original equipment manufacturer of the plant, has been supplying fuel assemblies, engineering, and field services since its start-up in 1988.
Lionel Gaiffe, senior executive vice president, Fuel Business Unit, at Framatome, said: "We are pleased to continue to support CNAT and Trillo through the long-term delivery of our safe, reliable and high-performance HTP fuel."
The contract covers nine subsequent HTP (high thermal performance) fuel assembly deliveries but can be extended beyond 2035 if the lifetime of the Trillo plant is extended.
Borja Rosell, Technical Services vice president for CNAT, said: "This contract confirms CNAT's commitment to the long-term operation of the Trillo nuclear power plant through solutions focused on the safety, reliability and efficiency of the plant, supplied by a partner such as Framatome."
